Flight Sciences Management Team
Robert Callahan, President
Mr. Callahan, Flight Sciences’ founder and President, has more than thirty years of experience serving in major and charter airline flight and management positions. Bob has over 15,000 hours piloting heavy jet aircraft worldwide. He has been both an FAA certified check airman and the pilot-in-charge of training for a major charter airline. Bob developed fuel conservation and management training programs internally for various airlines. Bob is a graduate of the University of California at San Jose with a degree in Aeronautics.
Hans Schmid, Vice President of European Operations
Mr. Schmid began his aviation career in 1961
with Balair, a division of Swissair where he was responsible
for improving operational efficiencies at the
Planning and Control center of Balair. In 1986 he was
promoted to Balair’s Management Committee
and became responsible for all operations and maintenance
for the airline. In 1993, he joined Swissair and managed
the worldwide Operations Control, Flight Dispatch and Flight
Operations Planning centers. In 1997, he was appointed CEO
of the newly founded “Swissair Flight Support
Ltd.,” a position he held until 1999, when Hans
joined Flight Sciences as Vice President of European
Operations.
Patrick Van Dessel Flight Operations Specialist
Patrick joined Sabena in 1983 and flew the B737, DC10,
A330 and A340. In 1994 he became VP Flight Coordination
and reorganized and managed the Ops center, Flight
Dispatch and Crew Scheduling & Planning. In 1998
he was promoted to VP Flight Ops where, besides assisting
the DFO, he reported directly to the CEO for some cross-departmental
projects: punctuality, fuel saving, introduction of
the A320-fleet.
After the bankruptcy of Sabena he became SFI A330/340
and flew for Volare-Italy as Captain A330. He now totals
more than 10.000 flight hours of which 5.300 as a Captain.
Patrick has a degree of Commercial Engineer from the
State University of Antwerp.
Bruno Stutz, Maintenance and Engineering
Bruno has worked in the aviation industry for over
30 years as an engineer. He has worked as a manager
in aircraft structures, materials testing, and facility
planning and production engineer. From 1989 to 1997
Bruno was tasked as Director Aircraft Engineering at
Swissair, and finally retiring from Swissair as Director
Technical Flight Safety in November, 2003. Bruno has
a Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree.
John S. Corl, Propulsion Specialist
During his 33 years at Pratt & Whitney,
Mr. Corl was manager of Service Support, Technical
Operations, Flight Test Team Leader and Project
Engineering. He was responsible for developing
and launching new engine systems health monitoring
tools. He also facilitated integration of the Service
Support & Monitoring team into the Propulsion Systems
Analysis Group developing advanced jet engines. John
served as manager and Flight Team leader during certification
of the V2500-A5 engine on the A320 and A321 at
Airbus in Toulouse, France. His numerous accomplishments
while at Pratt & Whitney also included developing
an EGT management program for airlines. He investigated
fuel burn and consumption characteristics for new engine
designs, and recommended operational efficiency actions
to the customers. John graduated with a BS Degree
in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University,
and holds a MS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute in New York.
Peter M. Minor, Aerodynamics Specialist
Mr. Minor has over 30 years experience in aeronautical
engineering with Boeing and McDonnell Douglas. At McDonnell Douglas
he was involved in lift assessment engineering, drag
estimation, performance evaluation, and continual operations
improvement for some of the world’s largest airline
fleets. His last assignment at Douglas was as the principle
engineer in charge of developing drag reducing
devices for the MD11, an area in which he specializes
for Flight Sciences. Pete is a graduate of the
Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia.
Montgomery Miller, Director of Marketing
Monty is a former Walt Disney Company marketer where he was responsible for major promotions that supported the launch of Disney’s 1.2 billion dollar Animal Kingdom theme park, the Disney Cruise Line, Radio Disney, Toy Story II, A Bug’s Life, Disney’s Tarzan and many others. His 20 years of experience includes commercial/editorial/technical writing, public relations, branding, corporate alliance partnerships, advertising, media marketing and promotions in support of animated and live action film releases, home entertainment, consumer products, national retail developers, online marketing & content development, direct response marketing/database management, variable print, vendor relations, special events planning, product development and point-of-purchase/print collateral. As Director of Marketing for PIP Printing’s Corporate Office Monty’s responsibilities included multi-media CD/DVD development, creating annual marketing campaigns and print collateral for over 300 North American franchisees, corporate training, media planning, budget development, strategic planning and radio & television production.
